Click any photo to enlarge These 3 photos show the panorama you'll see when you ride/hike up from the Deep Creek bottom where the ranch house and barns are located. The red arrow in the first photo indicates the headquarters location. It is interesting to note that this is just the "first" tier. You can go up even higher on the ranch. These photos were shot in early April, before the traditional burning season (more information and photos to come). Soon after, the prairie grasses begin to grow actively and the grass turns green. The green grass you see in the creek bottom is a cool season grass (brome) that greens up beginning in late February-early March. The green seen in the third photo are native cool season grasses found on the very thin soils of the rock ledges. |
